Mosaics Beginner Workshop
with John Highley
Available spots
Service Description
In this weekend workshop local glass mosaic artist John Highley will teach you the basics of creating a glass mosaic. John teaches the indirect method of mosaic construction where on the first day the glass is cut and adhered to sticky paper over a design, then inverted and glued to the base. On the second day, once the work is dry, the design is grouted and cleaned then the mosaic is ready for framing. The first day will be up to 5 hours (Saturday) and the second day will be only 1 - 2 hours (Sunday). It is a truly calming process of creation that transforms from chaotic tiny shards of glass into a cohesive stunning work of art ready for display. All materials and tools are provided and you will be guided step by step through the process and complete a 6 inch by 6 inch square mosaic which will then be framed with an included built-in stand or a chain for hanging. Limit of 8 students per class. Workshop days and times: Saturday 10am to 3pm (mosaic building and glueing) Sunday 1pm to 3pm (grouting and cleaning) Wednesday 7pm to 9pm (alternate date for grouting if needed)
